Internet Puppy Mills

Most of us know all about the danger of that doggy in the window. It’s common knowledge that many pet stores are fronts for puppy mills, mass breeding operations that show no regard for the health and welfare of the dogs. But how about the doggies in the Windows? Fewer people are aware of websites as puppy mill fronts. Red flags include sites that sell more than one or, at most two, breeds. Reputable breeders specialize and are aware of potential health problems of their dogs. Another thing to look out for is a site that will turn over a dog without asking for references — at minimum. Under the best of circumstances, a breeder will want to meet you to make sure you’re reputable.
