The use of Tibialis anterior muscle

One of the powerful muscles to dorsiflex the foot is the tibialis anterior muscle. It attaches to the front of the leg and the tendon attaches to the medial side of the midfoot where its main role is to lift the foot up towards the leg. It also plays a great role in turning the foot inwards and elevating the arch as it attaches to the medial or inside of the midfoot.  As there is quite a bit of difference from person to person, each one of those jobs it does will depend precisely where it inserts in the foot.
