New drug for gout

A promising new gout drug that is currently undergoing clinical trials its code name is RDEA594. Cause of gout is the accumulation of too much uric acid that circulates in our blood. As a result of that, the body tries to remove the uric acid as crystals into the joint. The crystals then create an inflammatory response that is the cause of the pain in gout. The action of RDEA594 is selective URAT1 transporter inhibitor that blocks a pathway that leads to the creation of the uric acid. As the uric acid production is blocked, the blood levels of uric acid are decrease, so there will be reduced risk of a gout attack.
