How to care for a boil.

Boils are infections that form inside hair follicles and cause a small area of skin to swell, turn red, and become painful.  When the center of the boil begins to turn white it is nearing the time for it to rupture.  The best way to care for a boil at home is to keep the area clean and apply a warm compress or to soak the boil in warm water.  This will encourage the puss to gather quickly and shorten the time until the abscess erupts.  Never pop the boil; this probably will make the infection worse.  Keep the area clean.  So yes, boils are infections.
